GEA Alumni Pitch Competition
Georgetown is heading to Dublin! After successfully gathering in San Francisco—we can’t wait to host our first pitch competition abroad! The GEA will host its 7th Alumni Pitch Competition at John Carroll Weekend Dublin - this is an event you won’t want to miss.
Join us for an exciting “Shark Tank-style” pitch competition between four ventures that are created, managed, and led by alumni. Each company will pitch in front of a live audience, followed by a quick-fire Q&A from seasoned alumni judges in the entrepreneurial and venture capitalist spaces. The winner of this pitch competition will get an opportunity to receive an investment prize from the Georgetown Angel Investor Network members.

GEA Alumni Pitch Competition 2023
The annual GEA Alumni Pitch Competition is a startup competition that provides a platform to showcase alumni created, managed, and led ventures from across the globe in front of a panel of expert judges and a live audience of fellow alumni, investors, and Georgetown faculty, staff, and friends.
The competition winner has the opportunity for a Georgetown Angel Investor Network (GAIN) sponsored investment prize supporting their venture. GAIN is a network of over 100 Georgetown alumni and faculty whose priority is to support the Georgetown start-up ecosystem and is deeply committed to helping to leverage the network to support and advise the winner.
In 2019, GAIN pooled their investment funds for the first time to contribute to a $40,000 prize. This year’s competition marks the third year the competition will include a GAIN prize opportunity. Previous pitch competition winners received cash prizes from sponsors. Check out the prior GEA Alumni Pitch Competition winners here!

2019 GEA Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards
Since its founding in 2012, the GEA has officially represented the voices of entrepreneurs among close to 200,000 Georgetown alumni. The GEA is proud to confer the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award for Outstanding Alumni Entrepreneur and Excellence Awards by specific categories annually— celebrating the contributions of alumni entrepreneurs that embody and exemplify the spirit of men and women for others and a passion for innovation.
GAIN Seminar: Angel Investing for Maximum Return
Join Georgetown professor Jim Hunt for a workshop on maximizing angel investing returns. As an angel investor himself, Jim has made over 100 investments, earning a 55% IRR on realized exits and a 29x cash on cash return. For the past 24 years, he has taught the Seed Investment Practicum at Georgetown, providing funding to many early stage Georgetown startups. Jim is Co-Founder of Blu Venture Investors and currently serves on the Boards of Information Security Corp, Graphika, AllVision, Lucata, Oceans Edge, cPacket, and cCinity.
