AI and the Future of Work

Artificial intelligence is an integral part of our daily lives, and its presence will only continue to grow in a world that has been indelibly changed by COVID-19. Between organizations that have gone entirely remote and unemployed workers in need of new opportunities, to the shifting landscape of matching talent with opportunities, many are looking to artificial intelligence to mitigate the issues we face, and to build a more prepared and effective workforce. While it is vital for us to lean into the inevitable power of AI, we must also recognize and explore the ethical implications of AI. Where does our humanity end in a world that is ever-increasingly tied to AI?

Join Paul Almeida (P’16, ‘20), Dean of the McDonough School of Business and Georgetown alumni in the world of AI for a look at how AI is shaping the future of work, and what steps are being taken to prepare the next generation workforce.

Featuring:

  • Flynn Coleman (F’03), Author, A Human Algorithm

  • Maggie Little, Founder & Director, Ethics Lab, Kennedy Institute of Ethics

  • Fabio Rosati (B’87, P’18, ‘23), Executive Chairman, Snagajob

1789 Seconds with Cate Luzio (S'03): Cultivating a Community of Strong Women

It’s been so long since last we met, Hoyas! Welcome to 1789 Seconds, a webinar-side chat featuring Julia Farr (C’88, P’19, ‘21, '24), Executive Director of the Georgetown Alumni Association in conversation with alumni as they share their career stories and professional journeys. In these live broadcast sessions, you'll be the first to hear from a variety of alumni over the course of this series, each chat taking place for 1,789 seconds - just under 30 minutes. We have 200,000 alumni doing 200,000 different, amazing things...our mission is to bring those stories to light!

Join us for our live broadcast as we spend 1,789 seconds with Cate Luzio (S’03), Founder & CEO of Luminary (and a former banking executive with twenty years experience in financial services) and one of Inc. Magazine’s 2019 Female Founders 100. Luminary is a global collaboration hub for working women who are passionate about professional development and expanding their networks. Since the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated limitations on indoor gathering spaces, Cate and her team have continued to build a community of empowered working women virtually and in person, advancing their careers, making new connections and building their businesses. Cate will share how gathering spots like hers are weathering the pandemic storm, what employers should be doing now to poise their female employees for success, ways to support women-owned businesses and how we can be champions for change and support the women in our lives.
